In February 2002 Knighthawk Racing, based in Colorado and owned by Steve Knight and Mel Hawkins, acquired the first MG Lola EX257 to be provided to a privateer team. Powered by a 2-litre, supercharged engine, the car was capable of delivering a top speed in excess of 210mph. The stunning, new, midnight black and halloween orange livery was specially commissioned and saw its debut at Le Mans. Sadly No. 30 was retired from Le Mans when the engine caught fire, but the team can still be proud that the car set new lap records in the USA 2002 season.
